Deciding on a Plumber

November 9th, 2017

istock_000003058984xsmallInevitably, you are going to have a plumbing problem at some time or another in your home. Before that problem occurs might be a great time to identify the plumber who is going to take care of your home for you. Here are some easy tips to follow to make sure that the plumber you hire is going to get the job done right the first time!

A. Experience Matters – although it is true that everyone had to start out without experience, it is very important to have a plumber with experience. Do not take a chance with an unskilled plumber to take care of your home.

B. Make sure they offer estimates – this just makes common sense. If you want to have any type of a job done you want to have an estimate first. Any plumber who is not willing to offer you an estimate on maintenance contracts or on any size job is probably not a plumber you want to consider hiring.

C. Accidents happen – make sure that your plumber is properly licensed and insured. If you have a plumber in your home and unforeseen accidents occur that cause damage you want to make sure that you are properly reimbursed.

D. Prior Work Record – the best way to understand the plumbers’ background is to talk to prior clients. This will help put your mind at ease that you have hired the right person for the job.

E. Ask about Fees – almost all plumbers have a set fee schedule for routine work and also for normal labor costs. Make sure you know what they are before you decide on the right plumber for your everyday needs.

Taking the time to investigate these items before you hire a plumber can help save you not only time and money but endless amounts of aggravation!
