If you are getting ready to hire a plumber to deal with an issue in your home or your business,  chances are that it’s an emergency and you don’t have a lot of time to think or to plan on hiring a plumber.  But, in spite of the situation you find yourself in, there are some things you need to know right away that can help save you time, money and even the aggravation of having plumbing work redone:

A)  Licensing – make sure the plumber you are hiring is fully licensed and certified plumber. This can save you problems down the line;

B) Experience – the last thing you need is to discover that your plumbing contractor does not have the experience to get the job done.  Plumbing experience can make the difference between a job that is well done and a job that is poorly done;

C)  Written Estimate – do not hesitate to ask your plumber for a written estimate.  If your plumber is not willing to provide you one you should hire someone who will!  Do not leave it to chance; a written estimate is your right;

D)  References – all plumbers should be willing to offer you the ability to check their references. Try to speak with clients who have had the same type of work done ensuring you will get a professional job each and every time;

E) Charges – make sure you find out if higher costs are involved in calling a plumber late at night, on weekends or other off hours. Most plumbers have a set fee schedule that they are happy to supply you with upon request.

Needing a plumber because of a problem in your home or office is stressful enough – do not take unnecessary chances, instead go to a reputable, experienced plumber who has a great reputation!
